Maje care advice

Discover our care advice, to help you take care of your Maje items season after season while protecting our planet.

Some general instructions:

  • Take off small removable details (straps, removable jewellery, slips, sleeves, belts, etc.) before cleaning your products (including when you entrust their care to a professional).

  • We advise that you always refer to the care label to find out our specific care recommendations for your product.

  • The symbols indicate the type of wash, rinse and spin as well as the maximum recommended temperature.

  • Machine washing: We recommend washing delicate clothes in a protective cover or mesh laundry bag to protect them. If you do not have a mesh laundry bag, use a pillowcase.

Leather
  • Leather is a living material and does not require daily care. The only requirement is to reproof its waterproof properties from time to time.
  • Avoid as far as possible all waxes and other polishes, which will alter the material.
  • Clean with a leather care milk and apply a waterproofing spray every six months (or after heavy rain when the item has dried). Always follow the instructions for use.
  • Entrust it to a leather professional each season for degreasing (cleaning and dyeing) to even out the colour.
Jeans

Washing:

Wash your denim items separately, as the denim colour can bleed onto lighter materials, especially during the first few washes.

To maintain their colour, wash your jeans inside out and space out washes as much as possible.

Drying:

Ideally dry hanging in the open air, preferably in the shade, or dry them on the delicate cotton programme in the tumble dryer.

Ironing:

Iron while slightly damp, at 150°C, unless your jeans contain elastane (110°C).

Wool & Cashmere

- WOOL -

Washing:

Hand wash in lukewarm water (about 20°C) with a mild detergent. Rinse at the same temperature as washing and wring out by rolling the garment between two towels.

You can also choose a wool programme if it includes a very gentle spin mode.

Drying:

Dry flat, out of the sun or moonlight, so as not to fade the colours.

- CASHMERE -

Washing:

Space out the care of your cashmere piece. Ideally wear it two or three times between washes. However, be careful not to wear it for several days in a row.

Machine washing, inside out, in a cover or mesh laundry bag (or pillowcase) is preferable to hand washing as the movement is more regular.

Use the wool programme, cold, and a small amount of a suitable product, without softener.

Drying:

Squeeze very gently and dry flat between two rolled-up towels

Polyester, polyamide and acrylic

Washing:

For clothes containing polyester, polyamide and/or acrylic, wash at 30°C maximum and spin on low speed.

Drying:

Air dry in a hanging position.

It is important to note that synthetic materials, such as polyester and polyamide, release plastic micro-particles into wastewater, which pollute the oceans. In order to limit these emissions, we advise you to use your machine with a full drum and not to exceed the prescribed temperature.

Viscose, Lyocell, Tencel

Washing:

Viscose is a very absorbent and inelastic material and is therefore very fragile when wet. It is therefore preferable to opt for a hand wash in cold or lukewarm water (maximum 20°C).

If the garment is stained, you can rub it gently with detergent for a few minutes.

Drying:

  • Do not wring your viscose pieces to dry them, spinning should be very gentle.
  • Ideally, place your garment between two towels and roll it up.
  • Dry in the open air.
Silk

Washing:

Dry cleaning is recommended for your silk pieces.

Mohair, angora and merino

Shearling

As soon as you buy your product and before wearing it, it is recommended to apply a waterproofing agent (following the application instructions), to make it last longer. This will prevent the appearance of small water spots, which could bleach your garment. We recommend that you reapply a waterproofing agent once or twice a season after cleaning.

Specifically, after the rain:

  • Let your shearling dry in a hanging position
  • Then gently brush away any rain stains with a suede brush
  • Reapply a waterproofing product

In the event of a grease stain:

  • Apply a clay-based stain remover such as Terre de Sommières to the stain as soon as possible
  • Leave for several minutes so that the remover absorbs the fatty agent
  • Gently rub with a suede brush

Be careful not to apply a waterproofing product to a grease stain

Repeat the operation if necessary.

Storage:

Shearling should always be hung up, to avoid crease marks. During the summer, hang your shearling in a cover, with a natural moth repellent. Never fold it.

At any time of the year, your shearling can be entrusted to a leather professional for care.

Cotton

Washing:

Wash inside out and separately from coloured items, ideally at 30°C.

Drying:

  • Natural drying: it is recommended that brightly coloured or dark items be hung in the shade to dry.
  • Tumble drying is not recommended.

Ironing:

  • To make ironing your cotton pieces easier, we recommend that you iron them slightly damp. Don’t iron the garment for too long, as this can cause it to become shiny.

Care symbols:

The symbol indicates the type of wash, rinse and spin and the maximum temperature.

Machine washing: We recommend that you wash clothes that are delicate, whether due to the material or other details, inside a protective cover or mesh laundry bag (or pillowcase)

Washing
  • The symbol tells you that you can wash your item in the washing machine. The temperature is indicated inside the bucket.

  • The bar below the symbol means that the programme should be “delicate”.
